Surfing is a fantastic family holiday activity, and having kids join your surf lessons is always a lot of fun. We do have an age limit for surfing guests though – they must be at least 6 years old and accompanied by one participating adult. Children requiring their own room are charged at the adult rate.

We strongly recommend that all guests have adequate medical and travel insurance covering adventure activities such as surfing.

If your flight arrives very early in the morning, please contact us in advance. We’ll do our best to arrange an early check-in or provide a comfortable space to rest until official check-in.

We will happily arrange a private driver to meet you at the airport if necessary. An AC private car costs EUR 100 including expressway passes (up to two passengers). The time taken is around 3 hrs.

Please let us know your expected arrival time and flight details as soon as possible via our web check-in.

Our driver will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall, holding a sign with our logo and the name “SURF & YOGA RETREATS”.

We chose South Sri Lanka for our surf camp because of its consistent waves, favorable weather, and ideal wind conditions. The surf rarely gets too big and rarely goes flat. There’s always soft, friendly white water close to shore, perfect for building confidence and practicing specific board skills. In the mornings, you’ll typically find smooth, unbroken waves – ideal for more experienced guests to challenge themselves.

We maintain a maximum instructor-to-student ratio of 1:4. Importantly, we do not mix ability levels, so you’ll always feel comfortable with your group and receive guidance tailored to your skills.

Our in-house videographer captures your surf sessions from the shore. Videos used for surf analysis will be shared with you free of charge, and all footage is deleted after one week.

Sri Lanka is warm year-round, so all you need is a rash guard and a pair of board shorts or a bikini. We provide a rash guard if you don’t have one. Don’t forget sunscreen – high-quality options, especially SPF 50+, can be hard to find locally.

For Level 1 surfers, we typically start with soft-top boards during the first few days. Once you progress to advanced beginner level, your instructor may transition you to a hard-top board.

For Level 2 and above, we offer a range of hard-top boards to suit your ability and the current wave conditions.

If you have a special connection with your own board and it’s convenient to travel with it, you’re very welcome to bring it along.

If it’s your first time surfing – or if you’ve only had a lesson or two before – we’ll start with the basics. This includes an introduction to the surfboard and surf spot, a warm-up session, and a dry lesson on the beach covering pop-up technique and essential safety guidelines. After that, you’ll head into the water to catch your first waves in our warm, tropical ocean.
